On Tuesday December 16, the Ramsey County Board approved the 1998 County Budget. The budget required a 1.96 percent tax increase. Commissioner Rettman tried for a ZERO percent tax levy; but, could not obtain the support for reducing the levy further by using interest earnings. However, except for properties where values changed, the combined tax levy for the County, School, and Cities came down in Falcon Heights and most of St. Paul. Janice was instrumental in reinstating dollars needed to continue operation of the Community Health Clinics which are vital in our area and the Block Nurse Program which is so essential in helping Seniors stay in their homes and their community.
