Community Court started on January 19, 1999, with the Honorable Chief Judge Lawrence Cohen presiding. He, Judge Wilson, Judge Marrinan, and Judge Clark are convening these non-traditional court settings on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. I had the pleasure of listening in on the very first court setting. I was very impressed that the concerns that many of you and I have conveyed to Judge Cohen, regarding the negative impacts of criminal behavior within a neighborhood was one of the hallmarks of this court. I believe that this opportunity and Sentencing Circles (when available) will give voice to you being heard. Equally, offenders will receive swift justice while repaying back through community service to the community they have harmed. I plan on continuing to be involved in working with the Courts for the betterment of our area and creative solutions to the negative livability factors.
