Boat Building

Boys Totem Town | Boat Building | Frequently Asked Questions | History | Jobs | Location | Mission and Vision | Partnerships | PEARS Program | Support Services | Volunteering | Return to Juveniles

The boats on this site are the product of a collaboration between  Urban Boat Builders and Boys Totem Town. The residents of BTT benefit greatly from the experience of building boats. The experience includes: reading blueprints, carpentry, using power tools, teamwork, and most importantly, the pride of a job well done. The boats are constructed under the tutelage of a master boat builder. Once completed, the boats are given a water trial and the boys experience the fun of an initial launch.

Recently, budget cuts have put the program in jeopardy. The program needs to be self sufficient by year's end. The price of these boats is significantly under market value and is just enough to cover the expenses needed to build more boats.

If you have any questions or would like to arrange a time to look at a boat, please contact Frank Taft at 651-485-8052.

Comments:
Who ever thought of a kayak as a family boat?  Well now you can.  This capacious triple with a capacity of 700lbs is well-balanced, stable, and comfortable.  We’d also venture to say that with three strong paddlers, no other kayak will be able to catch you.  Of course, you’ll also look good while you leave other boaters in your wake.
