Community Volunteers in JDC
The JDC brings in speakers from various community and statewide agencies for presentations to residents. Topics such as health, chemical dependency, parenting, job seeking or goal setting are covered. In addition, there are speakers who live in the communities the residents come from who provide stories of inspiration and hope to the residents.
Chaplain groups are offered twice a week. The groups run for 30 minutes and there is time for individual faith counseling afterwards. In addition, there is Sunday morning church service. Faith-based material is available to all of the residents. This includes material from Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Jehovah Witness, and Mormon religion, along with Christian material. Spanish and Hmong language materials are also available. Special diet requests (for religious reasons) are handled through the chaplain.
