The programs and services offered at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center contribute to a safe, secure and structured environment for the residents. The programs and services are designed to help residents make social and behavior changes so they will be less likely to re-offend when released.
The Detention Program is typically no longer than six days and includes staff-facilitated discussions, physical exercise opportunities, leisure opportunities and reading time.
Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative (JDAI)
The Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative seeks to reduce over-reliance on secure detention of juveniles and to eliminate disproportionate minority confinement.
Sex Offender Treatment Program (QUEST)
QUEST is a treatment program for juvenile sex offenders which includes a behavior modification program.
The RADIUS Program provides gender-specific programming beginning with a stay at the Juvenile Detention Center followed by intensive community-based programming.
A full high school and middle school education program is offered. GED preparation is also available.
Routine and emergency healthcare is provided by onsite Registered Nurses, and if necessary, juveniles are transported to nearby Regions Hospital for medical treatment.
Community Volunteer Service
Volunteers provide tutoring or mentoring, arts and crafts, meditation, health, and religious programs at the Juvenile Detention Center.
