A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system for capturing, storing, analyzing and managing data and associated attributes, which are spatially referenced to the Earth’s surface. -Wikipedia

GIS has been incorporated in many projects that have been completed by the RCD, for example, GIS has been used to determine the location of historic wetland sites, inventory and map shoreline information, and determine watershed boundaries.
