About Home and Community based Waivers


Brain Injury (BI) Waivers

Brain Injury Waivers provide funding for home and community-based services (HCBS) for children and adults who have an acquired or traumatic brain injury. 

Community Alternative Care (CAC) Waivers

Community Alternative Care waivers  provide funding for home and community-based services (HCBS) for children and adults who would otherwise require a hospital level of care.

Community Alternatives for Disabled Individuals (CADI)

Community Alternatives for Disabled Individuals provide funding for home and community-based services (HCBS) for children and adults who would otherwise require a nursing facility (formerly called a nursing home) level of care.

How to Obtain Disability Services

Ramsey County disability services are available for eligible people. The first step is to call 651-266-3613 and ask for a disability services assessment. County employees will help you navigate each step of the process. There are additional services for people who do not qualify for HCBS. Consumer Directed Community Supports is an option for people who are on HCBS Waiver Programs. CDCS gives people more flexibility and responsibility to direct their services and supports. This includes hiring and managing direct care staff.

Waiver Service Locations

Services make take place in your own home, your biological or adoptive family home, or at a relative's home. Services are also available for people living in family or corporate foster homes (also known as group homes), in board and lodging facilities and assisted living facilities. If you are married, you can participate while living at home with your spouse.
