Apply to be a Master Gardener

  3. Note in your e-mail whether you are available for a possible interview on November 6, 2014 afternoon or evening (or both).

Please note that we are unable to accept applications that do not include all above items or are received after 4:00 pm October 1, 2014.

The Process: We accept applications, and, based on those, invite some for interviews. We notify all applicants via e-mail. After interviews, final accepted interns will be e-mailed the Master Gardener class registration link and are required to register by the December 1, 2014 deadline, attend a December 2014 orientation, and in 2015 complete 50 volunteer hours in Ramsey County projects and attend 4 Ramsey County Tuesday evening meetings. (After your intern year, Ramsey County Master Gardener annual requirements are to complete 25 volunteer hours and 12 education hours minimum.)

More Information on the 2015 University of MN Extension Master Gardener Class:

Class fee is normally $575, but accepted Master Gardener interns pay only the materials fee of $275 and may choose to take the class either online or in-person. (The online class meets weekly, but students may choose to move faster, as modules are posted well in advance.)
