Bald Eagle, Osprey and Peregrine Falcon Nests

Over the last decade, the number of nesting eagles, ospreys and peregrine falcon nests has been established in Ramsey County.  The number is expected to continue to increase making the changes of observing these interesting birds more frequent.

Many of the nests are located on private property or in areas that are difficult to see.  The best viewing for each species is:

Bald Eagle

BALD EAGLES:  Keller Regional Park.  The nest can be viewed from Spoon Lake on the north side of Highway 36.  Park in the Spoon Lake East parking lot off Keller Parkway and walk east to the maintenance driveway.  Keller Regional Park Map

OspreysOSPREYS:    Lake Josephine County Park.  The nest can be viewed from the knoll on County Road C2, between Lexington and Victoria St.  Be aware that there is no parking on the north side of the road.  Lake Josephine County Park Map

PEREGRINE FALCONS:  Lock and Dam No. 1 on the Mississippi River.  The best viewing is the Lock and Dam observation platform.  The observation deck is off of West River Road, south of the Ford Parkway Bridge (directions)
