What do golf, picnics, the beach and hockey all have in common? Empty bottles and cans!
When you’re finished with your drink you can now recycle the plastic bottles and cans! Look for recycling containers in clubhouses, at the beach, in the park and in locker rooms.
Over 300 outdoor and indoor recycling containers for bottles and cans are being set up at all Parks and Recreation facilities.
The outdoor recycling containers are made by a Minnesota company that buys plastic bottles from recycling programs right here in Ramsey County. The old bottles are made into plastic lumber which is used to build the recycling containers. Your recycling efforts at home and at work make an environmental difference and support Minnesota business.
Encourage others in your group to recycle. Recycling is easy and every bottle and can counts! Recycling a single aluminum can saves enough energy to power a television for 3 hours. Recycling a single plastic bottle conserves enough energy to run a 60 watt light bulb for 6 hours. You can reduce waste and protect the environment.
Recycling on the go
The International Bottled Water Association has launched its twentieth YouTube video, "Every Bottle Counts,"
which highlights the importance of recycling receptacles in public places. Look for recycling bins in all Ramsey County parks.
