Cross-Country Ski Trails
Tamarack Nature Center provides 4.2K of trails tracked for classical style skiing. Ski through beautiful prairie, woodland and marsh with abundant wildlife. Trails are open from 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset. TNC Trail map
Trail Guidelines
- Minnesota State Ski Pass is required to ski on all trails.
- Groomed trails are for cross-country ski use only. Please no skate skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, sledding or pets.
- Snowmobiles or other motorized vehicles are not allowed.
- Pets are not allowed on ski trails.
- Ski trails are one-way (unless otherwise marked).
- Ski only on marked and groomed trails.
Note: Snowshoe visitors should avoid all bodies of water.
Cross-Country Ski Equipment Rental Packages and Snowshoe Rental
Ski and Snowshoe Rates:
$5/hour for ages 6-Adult*
$2.50/hour for ages 5 and under*
Ski rental packages are available from approximately December 17—March 4, depending on snow and trail conditions. Packages include classic style skis, boot and poles. A Minnesota Ski Pass is required for all skiers over the age of 15 and can be purchased where hunting and fishing licenses are sold.

Snowshoes are available for rental at the Winter Recreation Shack. Sizes may be limited.
*Rentals are for a minimum of two (2) hours and require a driver’s license deposit. All rentals are due back by 4:00 p.m.
Winter Rental Shack Hours:
Monday - Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, 12:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Note: Equipment Rental will be CLOSED December 25 and January 1.
Note: Equipment Rental hours on January 16 and February 20 are 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Minnesota State Ski Pass Information
All cross-country skiers on ski trails in State Parks or Forests, or on State or Grant-in-Aid Trails, who are aged 16 and above must have a Minnesota Ski Pass. Daily Passes are available in the Tamarack Nature Center Winter Rec Shack. Buy season passes online through the MnDNR website http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/licenses/skipass/index.html or anywhere fishing licenses are sold.
Facility - Meeting Get Away
Rent Tamarack Nature Center for your next meeting, seminar or retreat. Our facility includes two classrooms, kitchen, atrium with fireplace and one picnic shelter (capacity = 30-40 people). Please call 651-407-5350 for information on rates, room capacity and available dates.

Orienteering
We have a wide variety of educational trunks available for schools and other youth groups to rent on a weekly basis. Themed trunks include activities, artifacts, books, games and information on each topic. For more information, please call 651-407-5350.
