Hiking and Biking / Mountain Biking

Located within a county or regional park, generally shorter in distance and may be paved or gravel. These trails may take you through wooded areas, open prairie, or active recreation areas.

Due to the effect of mountain bikes on terrain, mountain biking is permitted only at the Battle Creek Regional Park - West.

Rice Creek North Reg Trail

Regional Trails

There are currently six regional trails within the Metropolitan Council's Regional Recreation Open Space System under the jurisdiction of Ramsey County.  These regional trails include 801 acres and total 23 miles.

**Note:

SNAIL LAKE REGIONAL PARK - Trail going under Gramsie Road is FLOODED and CLOSED. Use alternate pathway. 8/19/2011

 

GRASS LAKE TRAIL - Construction is anticiapted to begin Monday, August 29th, 2011 and will last approximately three to four weeks in length (weather dependent). The trail may be closed at periodic times for construction activities." Map

 

The trail section in KELLER REGIONAL PARK that extends under the Frost Avenue bridge will be closed temporarily due to bridge and road improvements on Frost Avenue. The trail is anticipated to be closed until the end of October, 2011. Map

 

The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners has proposed a 100-mile network of regional trails.  For more details, click here (PDF).

 

Friends of the Parks and Trails
The Friends of the Parks and Trails of St. Paul and Ramsey County was established in 1985 as a non-profit membership organization. The mission of the Friends is to promote the preservation, protection, improvement, establishment and development of parks, trails, bikeways and open space in general.
