Located within a county or regional park, generally shorter in distance and may be paved or gravel. These trails may take you through wooded areas, open prairie, or active recreation areas.

Due to the effect of mountain bikes on terrain, mountain biking is permitted only at the Battle Creek Regional Park - West.

Regional Trails

There are currently six regional trails within the Metropolitan Council's Regional Recreation Open Space System under the jurisdiction of Ramsey County. These regional trails include 801 acres and total 23 miles.

Friends of the Parks and Trails
The Friends of the Parks and Trails of St. Paul and Ramsey County was established in 1985 as a non-profit membership organization. The mission of the Friends is to promote the preservation, protection, improvement, establishment and development of parks, trails, bikeways and open space in general.
