About Us
The Ramsey County Breastfeeding Coalition (RCBC) was formed as a collaborative effort involving WIC, Healthy Families, La Leche League and The Family Center Community Doula Program. The group promotes breastfeeding countywide, by linking the community with support and resources.  We welcome all breastfeeding advocates to join us in the mission.

Mission
The mission of the Ramsey County Breastfeeding Coalition is to promote, support and protect breastfeeding through education, outreach, and collaboration within our community. 

Vision

• Each woman will receive accurate information, community support and the resources necessary to breastfeed her child
• Each child will be given equal opportunity for optimal nutrition through mother's milk
• Breastfeeding will be considered natural and normative while encouraged through societal, familial and professional support and resources
• Healthcare professionals will be knowledgeable and skilled in breastfeeding support

Goals

• To empower families to make informed infant feeding decisions with accurate, evidence-based information
• To decrease disparities in rates of breastfeeding across all communities
• Encourage breastfeeding-friendly policies and procedures within our health systems and community
• To increase the rates of breastfeeding amongst working mothers and increase awareness of Minnesota State laws protecting breastfeeding rights
• Link healthcare professionals, organizations, breastfeeding families and the community with up-to-date referral and educational materials
• Promote practices outlined in the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and WHO Code of Marketing Breastmilk Substitutes
