Compostable Yard Waste Bags
If your yard waste is picked up by a hauler or recycler, state law now says you must use a reusable container or special bag that can be composted.  Plastic bags are not considered reusable containers and are banned.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
Many household products you use to clean your kitchen and bathroom, maintain your car and home, control animal and insect pests, and use to maintain your lawn contain harmful chemicals.  When these products are no longer needed or useful, they are considered household hazardous waste (HHW).

Lead
Lead is a toxic metal that was used for many years in products in and around our homes.  Lead is part of our world today, but it is never a normal part of our bodies.

Recycling
Recycling services at home are arranged by the city where you live.  There are markets in Minnesota that use the bottles, cans and paper you recycle.  Be a part of the solution and rethink recycling!

Trash
Most residents of Ramsey County have to arrange for their own trash collection.  Reducing trash through recycling and composting not only protects the environment, but can save money on your trash bill and the County Environmental Charge (CEC).

Well Water Testing
Public Health provides well water testing for home and vacation properties.  Water can be tested for bacteria and nitrates.  Results are intended for personal use only and should only be regarded as an indication of the water quality at the time of sampling, not an overall evaluation of the entire water system.

Rain Barrels
An 80 gallon barrel emptied regularly can capture 3,275 gallons of water per year from one side of a house.  Use the rainwater for watering flowers, grass and vegetables.  Several local stores now carry rain barrels or you can make one yourself for less than $50.  You can also check the Recycling of Minnesota's website for their Spring sale events
