Ramsey County Auto Theft Prevention Collaborative Initiative

The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, Maplewood Police Department, Mounds View Police Department, New Brighton Public Safety Department, North Saint Paul Police Department, and White Bear Lake Police Department have partnered to establish the Ramsey County Auto Theft Prevention Collaborative Initiative (ATPCI).

ATPCI is a regional response to the issues of auto theft in suburban Ramsey County.  Because auto thieves don’t pay attention to city borders, this partnership of public safety agencies, serving 12 cities, is designed to combat auto theft by targeting efforts at detection, prevention, and apprehension.  By targeting efforts and resources in these three strategic areas the goal is to see: decreases in auto theft; a more informed public; and increases in the arrest and apprehension of criminals.

The Auto Theft Prevention Collaborative Initiative is funded in part by the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Division of Insurance Fraud Prevention, Auto Theft Prevention Program.  The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of these cities, applied for and secured over $200,000 in state grant funds to purchase license plate readers, fund auto theft investigations, purchase prevention materials, and secure bait cars.
