About the Ride-Along Program
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office provides an opportunity for citizens who have graduated from the Citizens Academy to experience firsthand the work performed by a deputy in the Sheriff’s Patrol Unit. As an official passenger in a marked patrol squad car, citizens accompany a deputy for part of his or her shift.
The Ride-Along Program fosters a better understanding of the challenges, hazards, and rewards of the deputy’s role in the community. This program gives citizens a close-up view of the day-to-day workings of Minnesota’s first law enforcement agency in the community.
The Ride-Along Program strengthens public safety and public relations by offering insight into what it means to be a Ramsey County deputy sheriff.
Ride-Along participants must be over 18 years of age (or have their parent's or guardian's authorization), complete a background check, be a graduate of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office Citizen Academy or other authorized program, and sign a waiver.
