The Law Enforcement Center houses a pre-trial detention facility, court services office, and a state-of-the-art regional training facility.
The Sheriff's Department Detention Division maintains 24–hour coverage at Saint Paul Regions Hospital. The primary duties of these deputies are to provide custody of prisoners in need of medical attention.
Regions Hospital receives prisoners from all policing agencies of Ramsey County and the detention facilities (Juvenile Service Center and the Ramsey County Workhouse). The type of prisoner varies from felon cases to the person serving minor sentences at the Workhouse, all of whom are held in custody while at the hospital receiving care.
