About Fingerprinting Services
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office provides fingerprinting services for background checks required for employment, adoption, human services, public housing, or other reasons. Fingerprints are provided in both electronic (Live Scan) and ink formats.
Hours and Location
Fingerprinting services are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 11:45 am and from 1:30 pm to 3:45 pm (excluding holidays) at the Criminal History Unit, located on the first floor of the Law Enforcement Center (425 Grove Street, Saint Paul).
There is free parking in the front lot of the Law Enforcement Center. Appointments are not necessary.
Fees (payable in cash only)
- Must provide a valid driver’s license, state issued identification, or passport.
- There is a $15.00 fee per card (set of prints) for individuals who are required to submit their fingerprints for employment, adoption, or other reasons.
There is no fee for individuals who are required to submit fingerprints for Ramsey County Human Services or Saint Paul Public Housing Association (PHA). A letter from Ramsey County Human Services or PHA must be presented. This letter must state the need or reason for the fingerprints and that there is no charge for this service.
Fingerprinting for Youth
Youth (under the age of 18) can be fingerprinted on a card at no cost. This card is not for official use, but is kept by parents or guardians in case of future need. Kid Print events are held throughout the year at various locations providing families the opportunity to have their children fingerprinted.
